Equity Actions to address student suspension rates, expulsion rates, other local measures including surveys of students, parents, and teachers on the sense of safety and school connectedness

Actively monitor discipline referrals and establish goals that aim to avoid the removal of students from the learning space before suspension or referral

Collect and examine data to make disciplinary practices and policies to promote equitable outcomes for all students.
Monitor discipline referrals by disaggregating the # discipline referrals by specific student groups and offense.
Monitor # of expulsions, disaggregated by specific student groups and offense.
Use PDSA cycles to test out alternatives to suspension on a small scale, building on the learning from these test cycles in a structured way before whole system implementation.

Prioritize strengthening students’ and families’ connection to school by regularly surveying students and families by conducting focus groups regarding school climate and culture, inclusiveness, and their perspectives on the learning environment.
